Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre (Exeter College) offers a variety of full-time Outdoor and Adventurous Activity Courses.

Courses contains both theory and practical elements with the programme of study specifically designed to progress students to higher academic and practical qualifications and/or to operate within the fields of Outdoor Adventure, Outdoor Education, Outdoor Recreation and Outdoor Activity.

You will study at the new state of the art £5.6M Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre on the Quay in Exeter. Lectures will be both theoretical and practical. Assessment will be through coursework which will be compiled in a variety of ways including: written, photographic and practical. Some of the work may require students to undertake their own research using the Internet, books and journals which are all available at Exeter College.

Level 2 Courses

BTEC Level 2 Diploma Sport (Outdoor and Adventurous Activities) 1 year course.

This is a full-time one year course that will enable progression onto the two year level 3 in Outdoor Adventure or offer a pathway to either an apprenticeship in Outdoor Education or to work in the industry itself. The course will combine both practical and theoretical elements of the Outdoor Adventure Industry.

Level 2 - Outdoor Education Apprenticeships 1 year work based training.

This Intermediate Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership is designed for those individuals who wish to gain a broad, but solid foundation to allow them to follow a career in the vibrant, exciting and expanding outdoor sector. It’s particularly suited to those with a passion and enthusiasm for instructing and leading people in the outdoors through adventurous activities. You could progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3).

Level 3 Courses

BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma - Sport (Outdoor Adventure) 2 year course.

This course combines the practical and theoretical elements of the Outdoor Adventurous Activities Industry and is equivalent to three A Levels. It will prepare you for employment within the Outdoor Adventure industry or to progress on to University to study the subject at a higher level.
