The British Canoeing Quality Mark is the National Governing Body's Quality Kite Mark for paddlesports. Holding this accreditation demonstrates that the Centre provides the very best practice in the running and management of paddlesports activities and is recognised nationally. The Centre's programme includes skills, safety, coaching and leadership courses and qualifications.

Paddle Awards.

The NEW Paddle Awards are for those getting into a boat for the first time, enabling them to feel confident in their chosen craft in a sheltered water environment. The awards help empower the paddler, enabling them to start their lifelong journey into paddlesport.  There are three Paddle Awards to choose from:

Paddle Start

Your first time on the water ‘having a go’! A fun and enjoyable practical session, introducing you to paddlesport.

Paddle Discover

Taking you on the next steps towards becoming an independent paddler, for a fun and safe time on the water. Developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; developing your decision making and practical skills, giving you confidence on the water.

Personal Performance Awards.

Personal Performance Awards are skills based awards that replaced the BC Star Award system in January 2019.

The new Personal Performance Awards are designed for paddlers wanting to gain recognition of their learning and development in the craft and environment they choose.

The process of completing the awards is based on learning. The ethos of ‘supporting the paddler’ is the main focus of all the awards, encouraging individuals in their personal development.

As a Personal Performance Award Provider, Haven Banks offers the following courses and awards:

White-Water Kayaking

This award is designed to develop your ability to apply appropriate decision making skills for a safe day out white water paddling.
Your White Water Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making to ensure a successful day on rivers up to grade 2. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys on moving water with proficient skills to be in control throughout.

Canoeing

This award is designed to develop your personal paddling and decision making skills so you have a fun and safe day out canoeing.
Your Canoe Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making when journeying. You will be confident in planning and undertaking canoe journeys on the water in winds up to and including force 3 taking place on grade 1 rivers with simple eddy lines.

Sea Kayaking

This award is designed to develop your skills and ability to apply appropriate decision making for an enjoyable and safe day out on the sea.
The Sea Kayak Award endorses your skill, judgment and the decision making required for a successful day on the sea. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys on the sea, in winds up to and including force 3 and/or tides up to 1 Knot, using sea kayaks or sit on tops, in tidal or non-tidal environments, with proficient skills to be in control throughout.

Touring

This award is designed to develop your ability to apply appropriate decision making skills to an enjoyable and safe day out touring.
Your Touring Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making required to have a successful day on a river or estuary. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys with proficient skills to be in control throughout.
